Fragmentation is back on the menu, boys.
.223 Remington was originally designed for use in 20" barrels allowing it to achieve velocities capable of causing tumbling and fragmentation of the projectile in soft tissue. As rifles have evolved and barrels have become shorter, fragmentation and tumbling is significantly reduced and the effectiveness of the round changes dramatically.
Our FXP series .223/5.56 ammunition follows the same rigorous quality control process used in our 55gr training ammo, but utilizes a Hornady VMAX 55gr projectile for explosive fragmentation at velocities achievable in barrels as short as 10" in length.
Reliable fragmentation is the key to traumatic wounding, and a safety measure to limit the amount of overpenetration in the event of a missed target.
Sold in 100 round bags.
